Medieval Psalter
There are two main reasons why I am creating a replica of a
medieval book of Psalms. One of them is that it will be a very useful artifact
to demonstrate to the public through my Living History group, La Belle Compagnie. It is created with
entirely authentic materials (oak gall ink on sheepskin parchment), and it is taking a historically accurate eternity
to complete.
The second reason is that ever since I took a fantastic course
on the medieval book in college, I've just wanted to make one. I think one will
be enough.
Note: When each of these sheets are done, they will be folded,
gathered, sewn to a binding, cut to make pages, and trimmed to have an even
edge.
